sickness

i was long afflicted with a sickness; by my own reckoning, my suffering was a deeper cup than i could stomach.

but then my eyes were opened, and i saw that it was a gift and a blessing, for it opened my eyes to the sickness of the world.

and then, when i truly saw the sickness of the world, i saw the wholeness of the world, and saw the wholeness in myself.

now, when i see the infected who walk around me, blinded by their pain, i am drawn to their wisdom like bees to a carcass.

if you seek healing, go where there is the most pain. if you wish to flee from the sickness of the world, flee from those who pretend that they are well.
