touched

people have claimed, at various times, to have been touched by a holy spirit or angel. what they do not report is that it is a fearsome thing, akin to touching the electric third rail on the subway. give a blind man sight for a single moment and you may very well drive him mad.

what is also seldom reported is that the holy spirit or angel that is touching you is touching you from the inside and not the outside. to be less obscure, the holy spirit is yours, and the angel is you.

this is probably the most heretical, revolutionary, and frightening revelation to mankind, and the one most suppressed. because if the holy spirit is your spirit, then no one may intercede for or dictate to you regarding your relationship to it. there is great fear of the sin of pride in our culture; but the sin of pride is not the apprehension of divinity in oneself, but rather, the suppression of it in others. when one apprehends the divinity in everyone, one cannot be above anyone else. and when one apprehends the divinity in oneself, one can never again submit to the will of anyone else.
